RAF Kai Tak new swimming pool 1963

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):

A new swimming pool was opened in 1963 due to some of the RAF's boundary areas changing as the main road system around the airport was rerouted after the opening of the new runway

This image shows a pagoda on the right which is probably the one that exists today. Also the shape of the distant hills should give clues to the exact location. From other pictures, the radar equipment was on wheels which suggests that there may have been some limited mobility as to their exact location. IDJ

One consequence of this aircraft being parked outside next to the noxious Kai Tak nullah was that it started to suffer badly from corrosion caused by fumes emitted from the nullah. The HKAAF hanger and facilities were then closer to the terminal area where the nullah surfaced before they moved to new premises at the other end of the runway near the taxiway bridge. IDJ

RAF HOMANTIN bus

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):

This 'Bus' with the signboard RAF Homantin on the bumper highlights yet another obscure RAF establishment in Hong Kong. I think this location was a mansion block on the middle slope of Homantin Hill Road that when I lived above it in the 1970s housed RAF families. But what was its purpose at the time this picture was taken that required a dedicated bus service? IDJ
