This is a slightly unusual tunnel. It has a big entrance and the first couple of meters are quite wide, but then leads into a long thiner (usual size) tunnel for about 10 meters. Due to its location facing towards Tai Tam rd. I suspect it was to guard against vehicles and anti-personal.

To get to it you have to get inside the Boy's scouts grounds, opposite HKIS school towards Tai Tam Tuk village, and then follow the Tennis court fence and then head up the valley. About 50m from the Tennis courts.

I think this tunnel was used as a pillbox or ammunition storage ,because i've seen these examples in Okinawa

Hi

Just asking, isn't going into the Boys scout grounds illegal? And if I manage to get in, do you know if the slope is steep and overgrown. I want to visit this tunnel in the future.

Hi Lewis, I have visited twice coming from above and then leaving via the Boy Scouts venue (behind the tennis court), which I've never had any problems with. To be honest, I went past it last summer again and it is not very impressive, just goes into the hillside a few metres and then stops. I wouldn't bother. There are far more interesting ones higher up in Tai Tam and Jardines Lookout.
