C.G. Perdue joined the Hong Kong Police as a gazetted officer on probation in 1913. He became Deputy Commissioner of Police and acted as Commissioner between September 1940 and April 1941, prior to the appointment of John Pennefather-Evans. Before the Japanese invasion he was appointed Defence Security Officer, acting as a link between the HKP and the governor, Sir Mark Young.
