Kenneth Harrison Uttley, born January 24, 1901, died May 22, 1972.

The son of a Methodist minister, he was educated at Cambridge and in 1929 came to Hong Kong as a district medical officer. In 1934 he qualified as an M. D. later becoming Deputy Director of Medical Services.

During the hostilities he was assigned to an Emergency Hospital in the Peninsula Hotel, which was soon merged with the temporary hospital at LA salle College, which was attached to the largest mainland medical facility at Kowloon Hospital.

While interned in Stanley he worked to improve the internees' nutrition. He also carried out some sort of training that would eventually lead to his joining the Anglican priesthood. He was ordained by the Bishop of Hong Kong in 1954 and retired from Hong Kong the next year, although he served as senior Medical Officer in Antigua until 1966. On returning to Britain, he became Vicar of Pyrton in Oxfordshire. He's buried in the cemetery of St. Mary Church in that village.
