Hilltop Trenches and small Tunnel Mount Cameron area [????- ]

Submitted by MikeB on Mon, 01/11/2021 - 20:15

Stumbled across this completely overgrown hilltop position while following the ribbon trail traversing the N ridge of Mount Cameron.

There's a very small dug out tunnel with 2 entrances and a trench leading to a fortified position some meters away. Was late in the day so didn't explore much more. One for the Military buff's to check out. It's very easy to reach following the ribbon trail from the power mast going uphill.

Trenches surrounding the L-shape top of 67m knoll.

A military-like small building and some trenches have been found southwest of this knoll on the southern slope of a long stretch of hill earlier on, thus I wonder if the trenches found this time were part of that construction scheme.

Part of the trenches lies in the forest, its coordinate is:

Trenches at top of Mount Parker [????- ]

If you walk along the path around the giant golf ball, these trenches are a short way down the slope below the path. The marker is roughly in the right place - look for a section of railing where the middle bar has been removed to see where to go down the slope.

Craig spotted them. He noted the clean-cut sides and depth of the trench, and thought it was likley dug by the British.
