[17 April update: The talk is now fully subscribed at 70 people, so unfortunately we can't take any more bookings. Thanks to everyone who has booked, and I look forward to meeting you next Wednesday.]
I'll show a selection of my favourite old Hong Kong photographs, and tell the stories behind them.
Most of the photos were taken around 1900-1930, and show a Hong Kong that has long since disappeared. They have been scanned at high-resolution and digitally restored, so I can zoom in to show their hidden details
The photos and stories are grouped around four themes:
- A walk around Central
- West to East along Queen's Road
- South to North from Peak to Kowloon
- Construction and Destruction
There will be an opportunity to ask questions after the talk.
- Date: Wednesday 24th April 2013
- Time: doors open at 6:30 p.m., talk starts at 7 p.m.
- Venue: Harold Smyth room, St. John’s Cathedral, 4-8 Garden Rd, Central
- Cost: $250 (including a glass of wine and refreshments)
Seating is limited so pre-booking is required. Please call CAB 2815-5444 to reserve your seat, or e-mail cab@cab.org.hk
Doors will open at 6.30 p.m. and wine and refreshments will be served prior to the talk.
All proceeds benefit the Community Advice Bureau, an information and referral service which has been serving the Hong Kong community since 1974.
You can hear a preview of the type of stories to expect on this week's Hong Kong Heritage show on RTHK:
