  • 1880: Construction commenced in August, estimated cost £2,156. The original document names it Central Bty, but it is crossed out and East substituted. A further folio refers to "East Bty, formerly called East Central Bty".  (WO 78/5338).
  • 1881: Construction completed in April, actual cost £2,455.  (WO 78/5338).
  • 1881: Initial Armament: 1 x 8" RML howitzer on Siege Carriage, 2 x 9" RML guns on Barbette mounting.  (WO 78/5338).
  • 1886: 1 x 8" RML howitzer, 2 x 9" RML guns. Listed as East Central.  (CAB 11/57).
  • 1889: 2 x 9" RML guns.  (CAB 11/57).
  • 1891: Proposal for 2 x 4.7" QF guns.  (WO 78/3892).
  • 1894: 2 x 9" RML guns have been dismounted, emplacements for 2 x 4.7" QF guns have been constructed. Guns in A.O.D. charge.  (CAB 11/57).

  • 1902: 2 x 4.7" QF guns.  CAB 11/57).
