The changing tents were still dismantled in March, and throughout the winter the bay was only really visited by personnel from R.A.F. Little Saiw Wan, who had trudged over the slopes of Pottinger Peak. The final steep descent into the bay can be seen on the left. Big Wave Bay was still mainly a small farming community, and the fields can be seen going right down to the beach.
Pill Box 36 was beside a bend in the small stream - just off to the left and in 2018 it is almost certainly still there, disguised as somebody's home. Rob Weir told me that he is fairly certain that an observation (maybe Lyon Light) post was close by it, up a slope and a bit nearer the sea. If you look closely you can see what looks very much like it standing about 5 metres above the stream and the beach.
