My father, Alan is sitting at the front - aged 1.
His parents were missionaries (working for the China Inland Mission) - my grandmother Alice, is 2nd from the left and my grandfather, George is on the far right.
Dad's family spent a lot of time in northern China, but were in Shanghai (as were my mother's family) when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour. Both sides of my family were interned by the Japanese in the same POW camp.
My mother's father was an ex-Royal Navy seaman, who worked for the China Maritime Customs. My parents met in Camp and later married in 1952! They lived in Hong Kong for all of their working lives - my mother still lives here in the China Coast Community in Kowloon Tong.
