The picture likely taken between 1956 and 1963. 1956 was the year when the Stewart pier down one block was built. 1963 was the year Tonnochy pier was expanded with the addition of two wings. The picture doesn't have the extra wings. A rest area was built between the two piers in 1957 with fences, benches and trees. It seems all these things are absent in the picture. Date of the photo therefore should be around 1956. If we compare the pier in 1949 and 1956, the 1949 pier had no roof. The 1956 had a roof. The former going to Yaumati (Jordan). The latter changed the route to Kowloon city.
