His full name was possibly Julius or John Arnold and so far I have found the following publications by him:

He seems to be confused online with a German Doctor Julius Arnold. I have found no evidence they are the same person

The last Jurors list in which he appears is 1931
The memoirs of Captain Pritchard state that the Secretary of the HK,C & M, J Arnold, retired in 1931 due to Robert Ho Tung and other Chinese directors feeling they could run the company better than the European directors. Mr Arnold sailed for Canada on retirement - a farewell dinner was held on the SS Kinshan and a gift of a model Chinese Junk was presented to him

Thanks for the extra information. The fact he worked for the Hong Kong, Canton and Macao steam boat company certainly explains his choice of subjects for his books, as they cover scenes along the routes of the company's boats.
