V. Heywood is right - the lady on the right is Mrs Goodfellow. My wife who has an uncanny skill in facial recogniton confirms my initial guess that it was Gwelma. The boy to her right could be her son, Scott, I think. We knew the Goodfellows quite well, and I sailed with Pat Goodfellow at times at Hebe Haven, in the RO's Director, Gordon Bell's little junk. Pat was ex-RN., and a good sailor.
I too stayed up in one of the huts on Sunset Peak - from 1966 to 1969. The swimming pool was no longer in use at that time. The huts are still there today, of course.
Ah.......happy days
Gordon.
Swimming pool sunset peak
Hi, am Chris Goodfellow, Gwelma and Pat’s son.
The swimming pool was a favourite family haunt and our hut, no 9 was closest to it.
Many happy memories.
However, am puzzled by the picture, date and Veronica’s memory, plus the other lady’s facial recognition.
Firstly, am not sure this was my mother, the jaw seems too prominent, wondered if it was the mother of a boy with Downs that V. Heywood might remember.
Secondly, the date. Doubt very much whether my mother would be there within a month of giving birth. The boy in the foreground could have been myself about 10 yrs later, back view . The half submerged head on the left could have been my little sister, Heather, but not in 1948!
Wonder if there is a profile view of Graham Heywood in the centre, what does Veronica think?
