My mother, Betty Evelyn Longbottom and my grandmother, Dorothy Longbottom were both in Stanley. Mum used to tell us some stories from capture and the camp; some were horrific. She was a nurse in a hospital there. Mum is still alive, in Sydney, but has dementia.
My father, Thomas Hanson Hood was in Argyle Street POW (?). He was an officer in the British navy. Dad didn’t talk about the war much. Many of his friends died and he nearly lost his legs to disease.
Just interested if anyone has any information about them.
