I received this question by e-mail, and with Peter's permission have copied it here:
Dear David,
I have just subscribed to Gwulo. I would like to find out if any other subscribers went to the Peak School and/or lived at Peak Mansions during the late 50s and early 60s, and if they have any photos. I am not sure how to go about this or even if your website is designed for this kind of exchange. Any pointers would be much appreciated.
Best wishes,
Peter Jordan.
Yes, that's one of the uses of gwulo.com I had in mind.
I suggest you start by reading these suggestions about finding old friends.
Next step is to use the search box at the top right of this page to see if there's already anything relevant:
- A search for "peak mansions" returns a page with some information and photos about the building. If you'd like to ask for more photos and contacts from old friends, leave a comment on the Peak Mansions page, following the guidelines mentioned above.
- A search for "peak school" returns several matches. One of them shows that there are several groups for Peak School on Facebook. So I'd probably start with a visit to Facebook to see if the people & photos you are looking for are over there - no need to re-invent the wheel. If not, create a new forum topic here along the lines of:
Peak School - 1950s and 1960s
I would like to find out if any other readers went to the Peak School during the late 50s and early 60s, and if they have any photos. If yes, please leave a comment below, or send me an email: your-address@some-domain.com
I look forward to hearing from you, Peter Jordan.
Finally, I find that the more information you give out, the more likely you'll get something back. So if you're asking for photos, consider sharing the photos you already have. If you're looking for comments about Peak School in the 1950's, start with sharing some of your own memories of the school at that time.
I hope that helps. Good luck, and feel free to leave a comment below if you have any more questions.
Regards, David
PS you might also find the section on Martin Booth interesting, as a lot of the information and photos there are about Hong Kong in the 1950s.

Peak Mansions
Dear Peter and David
I used to live in Peak Mansions in the 1970s and 80s, and I have tracked down quite a few old photos of the building and surrounding area which I would be happy to share online.
Regards,
Andrew
re: Peak Mansions
Hi Andrew,
We'd love to see those photos, thank you. The easiest ways to link them to the site are either to upload them here, or upload to Flickr then create a link here.
In either case if you can enter Peak Mansions in the Places shown in this photo: field, the next time someone looks at the Peak Mansions place, they will see your photos.
Let me know if you run into any problems.
Regards, David
