Standing high on the Isthmus of Stanley, the new and spacious buildings of St. Stephen's College, were yesterday formally opened by His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government (Hon. Mr. W. T. Southorn, C.M.G.) in the presence of a large gathering of European and Chinese residents of Hong Kong.

Historical Trail around St Stephen's College
This morning we visited the college for a guided tour of their historical trail. Each tour is led by student docents.
Today our guides were Gautama, Ka Ming, and Lenus. They did a great job - friendly, good English, and a great knowledge of their subject.
They led us through several of the school buildings, and ended up at Stanley Military Cemetery which is right next to their campus. Along the way they took it in turns to introduce the history of the school, its use as a military hopital and the ensuing massacre in 1941, and its role in the Stanley Internment Camp that was there between 1942 and 1945.
The tour typically lasts around two hours, but I must apologise to our guides as we had lots of questions and ended up taking nearer two and a half!
So, highly recommended. The school website has more information about the trail, and a form to request a free guided tour. (The tours are only run outside school hours, ie at weekends, or during school holidays).

The College is to be congratulated on its excellent work, and I don't think I'm alone in saying that, as someone with a personal link to Stanley Camp, I'm both grateful for and moved by what has been done.
