Greetings.  Was it advertising cigrettes?   Tin cans of this size were used to help keep cigarettes from drying out too fast.  If they came in packages, the travelling salesman would squeeze the package with his fingers to find out if it remained air-tight as from factory.  Us boys used the empties to cover a lighted "lightning" firecracker to see how high it could reach, typically about 30 feet. The Cantonese name fits well in sound, and am I correct to say in meaning too - grasping everything include 7, or even a duck would (also) choose 7?  Regards, Peter

There was a blasting red sign next to a light post saying "爆石危險".  Looked like blasting started way beck when the Lees started developing the Lee Garden site and didn't stop until the mid 1960's, leaving behind a very deep granite pit where the Hysan Place sits today.

Thanks David for the answer.  Grandpa and friends were playing mahjong and smoking cigarettes, and this 5-year old boy wanted to imitate.  While their attention was on the tiles, he rolled a piece of paper, held it between his lips and lighted it with a match.  The burning paper got glued to the wet lips and the short story was that he learned his lesson and luckily no permanent damage done.  Regards, Peter
