The Peak Tramway 1897

This photo shows two bridges over the tram: over Macdonnell Road (1st) and above the one over Bowen Road. May Road bridge hasn't been built yet (built 1907).

Looks as if the photo was taken from the same place as this one, only from the opposite side of the dam.

This photo labelled "Peak Tram" is from the 1928-1929 album of Lt-Cdr WR Fell. I think Klaus is right that the three views of Hong Kong by WRF that I uploaded earlier, were taken from the Peak Tram and that this photo belongs in the same sequence during a single visit to the Peak.

Kennedy Road Peak Tram Station

This photo shows the fenced off lower part of the station. At the lower end of the row of houses, Tram View Cafe can be spotted. On the right, the freemasonry symbols are visible.

I think the stone-built chair-shelter that replaced the matshed shelter is shown here, so the date should be mid 1901 or a bit later.

Peak Tram Bridges

In the Journal from 1888 it is reported that there are eleven bridges on the Peak Tram. Two of them are over roads, and the rest over nullahs and gaps. In the beginning, two road bridges over the tram were built (Bowen Road, a bit later Macdonnell Road). In 1907, the May Road bridge was built, and in 1968, the Cotton Tree Drive bridge was added.

So, let’s start at the lower terminus.
