Part of the original Pokfulam Conduit, the inverted siphon carried the water across the valley through a pair of cast iron pipes.
The conduit was later extended to cross the stream further inland via a new bridge and the inverted siphon was no longer needed. A pillar that supported the inverted siphon's pipes has survived and can still be seen.

Position is approximate.
I guess they were connected with the conduit in some way, but I'm not sure of their purpose. Thomas has noted "syphon wells" marked akong the conduit on the 1889 map of the area, and I wonder if the pillars are connected with them.
