Rebecca graduated from Diocesan Girls' School in 1938, and received her Nursing training in the Hong Kong Queen Mary Hospital. She became a Fellow of the College of Nursing, Australia.
In December 1941, she worked as a military nurse for the Flying Tigers (Claire Lee Chennault 1893-1958) in China and later CNAC, she had to flew over the Himalayas ("The Hump") approximately 50 times after Japan cut off the Burma Road supply route to China and lucky to be alive.
She married to Leslie Wah-Leung Chung 鍾華亮 (1917–2009) in the Old Mission Church,Calcutta, India, on July 7, 1945, a special day to remember on the Marco Polo Bridge Incident which united the Chinese people to fight against the Japanese agression in World War II.
