Built initially as a latrine and available for use by the public on 22 June 1931. See comments from Klaus and excerpts of 1930/31 Reports of the Director of Public Works at: https://gwulo.com/media/54612

An additional storey was completed at a later date to include the bathhouse. The latrine and bathhouse were likely demolished around 1970. Currently, a public toilet is available in the same location.

Hi There,

I believe the Latrine & Bathhouse had to go owing to the Canal Road Flyover for allowing vehicles to turn left at Canal Road from Hennessy Road for the Cross Harbour Tunnel, at least temporarily.  After the flyovers had been further developed to link up Aberdeen Tunnel, the temporary up-ram at Canal Road north bound was demolished.  In its place, they move the Happy Valley, Ngor Keng Kai Fong Association there, together with a new loo behind it.

T

ps  I also had a faint recollection of an on ramp starting in Lockhart Road northwords instead.  Clarification\correction welcomed.
