In the early to mid 70s, I would meet Mr. and Mrs. Alvares occasionally at the Club Lusitano during lunch on Sundays. A very pleasant and classy couple indeed. Their "Arrowhead" residence was featured in the movie "Love is a many-splendored thing" with William Holden and Jennifer Jones. The theme song from this movie has been called Hong Kong's unofficial theme song. His daughter Brenda was married to Darryl Patton, a popular presenter and disc-jockey at Commercial Radio in the 60s.
