Known problems

These are problems I'm already aware of:

  • Slow site

    • The site is running in development mode, which makes it slower than usual.
  • Search
    • The new site's search does not allow searching for exact-match on phrases. e.g. a search for "David Bellis" would match the text: ... to David. Mrs Bellis said ...
    • We can't search text in comments.
  • Photos
    • [FIXED] The Zoom tab is not working, while the zoom tiles are being re-built.
    • Also note that the urls for photos have changed their format, e.g. https://gwulo.com/atom/42705 has become https://new.gwulo.com/media/42705. Any requests for the old /atom/* urls are automatically redirected to the new /media/* page, so any old-style links will continue to work.
  • What's new / Recent content
    • [WON'T FIX] All images have their 'Last updated' date showing the date of migration, rather than the date from the old site. These will disappear from sight after a few weeks, so I'll live with this.
    • If I go to the what's new page at https://gwulo.com/whats-new and click on one of the "x new" links, and it is for an image page with url /media/... it takes me to the top of the page instead of to the newest comment on that page.

Some of the image dates seem to have got corrupted in the move. For example: https://new.gwulo.com/media/32511

The image date is 1053 bt perhaps was 1953 originally? Looks like the original date taken field has been incorrectly parsed.

Looking at the same image on the old site - https://gwulo.com/atom/32511 - that also shows the date as 1053. So no problems with the migration in this case, just a typo on the original upload. I'll correct its date on this new site.

I've updated the pages for Mike's photos and also the 1950s photos along the tram line, so they should be working again now.

(A bit of background - the photos had migrated across ok, but the code to display lists of photos on the pages has to be updated too. There are still plenty more pages that will need that type of update, so please leave a comment as you see them.)

many thanks david - apologies, I should be posting in the other thread. I'll continue there. Phil
