His parent's graves are in the British Cemetery in Hong Kong, his father Thomas Henry Martin being the Superintendent of the GPO in Hong Kong at the time of my father's birth (1908).

I have just started the journey of tracking my father's side of the family, so any data you may have would be helpful.

Thank you.

The 1933 Blue Book shows Henry Stuart Martin working in the Treasury as an Assistant Accountant, and that the date of his first appointment was 1st March 1925. So it looks as though he joined the civil service as his first job.

If you look under "useful links" on the right of this page, click  "How to research people ..." for tips of where to find out more.

Here are the steps to find him on the HKGRO site. (For some strange reason I find I often have to click HKGRO links twice to get to the document. The first click just takes me to their search page). So...

  1. Go to the HKGRO website
  2. Click on Table of Contents
  3. In the Blue Book column, click on the book for 1933
  4. Click item 16, Civil Establishments of Hongkong, for the Year 1933. This is an index to the larger section 17. Find the entry for H S Martin, and note the page number: J12
  5. Click 'Back' in your browser to get back to the 1933 Blue Book, then click on item 17, Civil Establishments. Scroll down to page J12, and there he is!
