This is the most random of the gorup and probably the toughest to figure out! Like the others, I believe this photo was taken around 1915-1920. It as well, has held up beautifully and like the other originals I have must have been done professionally due to the quality. Unfortunately, I know as little about this photo as I do about the others. They were all found with my grandmothers things when she passed and the family story is they belonged to the Kempton's but we have never known who in the photos they were. Because of the dates, the ages of the men in the photos and the fact my great grandfather was an engineer I believe my great grandfather is somewhere in them or they have something to do with him. Again this could have something to do with the Royal Engineers or scottish expat society in HK. As always, any advice or information you have about the people or event in this photo is appreciated.

Looks like a skit for a stage performance or simply a fancy dress party Perhaps you can try looking up your great grandfather's.service record and see whether he had served in Hong Kong with the Royal Engineers during WWI or thereafter.

I've seen other photos of football matches held by the forces in fancy dress at around Christmas / New Year, so given the football in the foreground this may be a similar photo.

There aren't any clues to suggest where this was taken though, so it may not have been in Hong Kong.
