John Morton stayed out of Stanley during the Japanese occupation to drive delivery vehicles for that part of the Medical Department that continued to work in town. He was repatatriated on the Asama Maru/Gripsholm and played a leading role in the smuggling of the complete accounts of the HKSBC's last day of operation.
