Bill with his AR15 and tri-lux scope. A British Army off-set lens prism-sighting device. If you zoom in on the scope, above the sighting lens is the round mark for radioactivity hazzard. By turning a dial on top you induced a radio-active gas into the scope and sighting reticule so you could see at night. Sufficent for night time target identification (who is the baddie and who is the hostage) and 5 shot shirt button groups at 100 yards. This actually out-performed the American Owl-eye and star-light night sniper scopes the reps were trying to sell to the RHKP.

A Gorky is the name we had for a russian trawler fitted out with spy gear to listen into HK. One developed problems?? prob. the crew wanted off to go into the lights of HK and it docked near to Tamar.  As it watched us and repaired we watched it (SB) and us doing an oversight. However some of the senior lads got an invite for a drink aboard and met with the Capt. a jolly hard drinking pirate and  his officers, eventually testosterone took over as each salute was finished in one with another poured. What they do is put the vodka in the deep freeze and then tap off the stuff that insn't frozen and drink that. In the early hours the competition was still going on really hard and their side and our side were still standing and cheers and another one gone and the captain wasn't even tired or red in the face. We then had had enough and as repairs had been made to the ship went home. The ship cast off and we realised that some of us were still left aboard 'competing' for the honour of HK. Urgent calls and HMS Wolverton was fired up to intercept and take off the competitors which they did. A 'at sea transfere' was made and the members, still lively brought back. I dont know if the capt. realised but prob did, the boss of the security HK, SB our boss and other such persons were on board. A near miss and no one was ever aware of the mission of HMS that early morn to this day. We didn't even get a souvenier but they nearly did.
