These quarters appear to be too far way from the airport for any staff 'on call' considering the lack of quick ways to get across the harbour, Maybe they sent a BOAC flying boat launch as a 'taxi'.
Were they ever occupied by BOAC? i.e. the British Overses Airways Corporation

Thanks Ian....that's where my parents were living 1949 when i was born.
My Dad was aircrew on BOAC Flying Boats at the time.
