1975 – a street guide for Hong Kong, Kowloon & the New Territories.
Above is a cover image for the undated booklet titled: Hong Kong Street Guide – New Edition Comprehensive Reference Index, House Press, 703A, Li Po Chun Chamber, Hong Kong n.d.
A clue to the approximate publication date for the booklet is provided by the inclusion of a full-page advertisement featuring the Shui Hwa Watch Company (瑞華表行). The advertisement, picturing 1970’s model Baume & Mercier and Piaget wristwatches, mentions a Kowloon retail outlet situated in the Hyatt Hotel on Nathan Road. In an informative company history for Shui Hwa Biu Hang, compiled by The Industrial History of Hong Kong Group, it is mentioned that the luxury watch retailer operated their Hyatt Hotel branch between “the early 1970’s” and “the late 1970’s”. A publication date for the street guide somewhere in the mid-1970’s might therefore be an acceptable guesstimate.
