The young lady, Barbara, would be one of the models whom Kluge describes in the Gloucester Arcade art exhibition article: "When painting young and pretty creatures, my personal tendency is to emphasise as much as possible their best points and to paint an attractive picture at the same time as a portrait, since their physical beauty is their main characteristic."
Using the portrait of Barbara as an example, I think Kluge has captured all of the above in his painting.
