Ellen's first husband was David Hay Ritchie, her second was Evert Hilkers from Amsterdam. (Refer my message in another thread). There was no Evert Melcher as far as I know.
This photo was attached to Ellen's passport application to the US Consulate in Shanghai, in March 1920. Her son David Olson Ritchie was known as "Sonny Boy".

What a fantastic photo of Nellie and Sonny Boy! I see that Nellie spells her middle name as "Kirsten" in her signature, whereas it is "Kirston" (Swedish spelling?) on her birth certificate. I shall set about correcting whatever I am entitled to correct on this site. I wonder if David Ritchie or Evert Hilkers are mentioned in the Hong Kong press at all, or even Nellie's first marriage. There is more to come, I'm sure. Thank you for your work in finally putting us on the right path!
