The Tin Hau Temple depicted on this postcard lies on the shore of Joss House Bay (大廟灣), in the vicinity of Tei Tong Tsui (地堂咀).

According to A Touristic Guide to Hong Kong, “Tin Hau’s birthday is celebrated on the 23rd day of the 3rd moon. In Hong Kong the main celebration takes place at the Tin Hau temple called Tai Miu (大廟) at Joss House Bay, on the Kowloon coast outside of Lyemun Pass. To see the colourful celebrations at Tai Miu, the Yaumati Ferry Company operates special excursion cruises to Joss House Bay on the goddess’s birthday.” The aforementioned 1968 publication was compiled and edited by Mr Edward Y. Hsu in collaboration with the Department of Extra-Mural Studies, Chinese University of Hong Kong.
