This image should be between September 1936 (opening of CBS) to July 1940 (before evacuation of British school children from the Colony and subsequent conversion of CBS to a hospital, though it had been used as a refugee holding centre following the Second Sino-Japanese war from 1937). Not called King George V School until 1948, the Old Block looks pristine, and more likely pre-war.

The senior boys in this photo are in summer white uniforms and the bushes by the steps are more luxuriant than the 1939 school photo in which the students are in their dark winter uniforms which would have been snapped in the spring term of 1939. So this photo should be summer of 1939 or summer of 1940. The last hurrah informal photo for keepsake of friends before dispersing, I would peg this shot as summer of 1940.
