Family stories said Man Loong Ginger Factory 萬隆糖薑 was operated by our Maternal Great Grandfather Wong Oi-chau 黃靄洲 who was a philantropist in Hong Kong, Canton and his homestead at Jiaotang, Punyu. His shop in Canton was at Sup Pat Po.

Chi Loong Ginger was said to be operated by a Wong Chi-chau - I believe they were the same person, my Maternal Great Grandfather, with a spelling error in writting the registry Oi became Chi.  I am always keen to verify.

The Wong Sisters were like the Soong Sisters but at the Southern Court of Sun Yatsen when it was centred at the Whampoa Military Academy before the Northern Expedition.  Caught in the revolutionary era, some were active in politics while others actively cooperated with the Catholic Missionaries such as the Maryknoll Sisters or the Quebecoise Sisters to run orphanges and embroidery workshops.  My Maternal Grandmother was married a Major General.
