On the upper range at PTS. 25 meters...The 9mm Sterling in action. If you look at my left hand, then just below it you can see an ejected bullet case from this gun as it fired a 3 round burst. Looking at the barrel it is still on target and hasn't risen up under recoil. This is why the gun was very good for its time for its controllability. The 9mm ammo we used in this was a special Super Vel make. Accurate and had the ability to weave its way thro a bullet proof vest.

Sterling modification.
On the other side of this machine gun, out of sight, sticking out say 90 degrees is a long 32 round magazine making it cumbersome for covert carry. Thats when an Australian Special Forces modification came in handy and that was a small 6 round magazine welded 90 degrees to the 32 round mag. This meant that the gun could be carried with the 6 rd. mag in ready to go and the cumbersom 32 rd. mag was along side the gun body. Nice and slim. With the sock folded the entire gun could be carried in a folded news paper. -Or under a coat which it was. Esp when with one sterling I went thro the metal detectors at Kai Tak on an incident. Even tho I had all the ID cards, Police ID cards and cleared to airside They still made me and Yam Man Yau go thro'.The detectors went off 3 security came towards me, I pulled back the jacket and they did a runner. Lucky OC Airport was there to tell them off that they nearly compromised a tricky situation.
