1962 is the first year it appears in Google Books.
In 1972 there's a note that the property & land had been acquired. I'm guessing it was then re-developed, but if you have any more accurate dates, please leave a comment below.
I remember vividly staying…
I remember vividly staying at the August Moon Hotel sometime in spring 1973, around March-April. So they were still open for business around that time.
When I last visited Hong Kong in 1996, I was unaware that it had been demolished.
