The [Ho Sai Kwong] family's summer resort, Stanley Lodge, after which he [Stanley Ho] was named, was auctioned off. ...  It was not until 1983 that Ho finally, and symbolically, managed to reacquire the ocenfront property with its spectacular beach. 

[actually, it did not have a private beach.  A beach is still there, and you can get to it by going down the path beside Pacific View.  It is a dog-friendly beach ]

"Hong Kong money: how Chinese families and fortunes are changing Canada"

It was symbolic, indeed.  Just a couple of years later, Stanley Ho sold it to the American Club.
