Bowrington Canal

A rare glimpse of the Bowrington Canal!

I was on a bus yesterday, that was driving from the cross harbour tunnel up on to the Canal Road flyover. I was surprised to see this patch of water, in a place I don't usually expect to see any.

It's a section of the Bowrington Canal (the canal that gives Canal Road its name), uncovered during the construction work underway there.

Hi David,

This location was the sea before the Wanchai Reclamation in the 1960-70s was completed.  Guess they have to extend the canal when they fill up the whole lot while building the Cross Harbour Tunnel
