Stanley Camp liberation 30 August 1945

My grandmother Henriette Aitken was interned with her son Edward Aitken. She was French and on liberation of Stanley Camp she raised the French flag. My father is certain that photos were taken but we can only find the British flag raising ones. Does anyone know of the whereabouts of the flag raising for the other nations internees?

The Imperial War Museum has several photos of Stanley Camp, including one that shows several of the flags flying. I haven't seen any photos of the other countries' flags being raised though.

We have pages for Henriette and Edward. If you visit them and click the "What links here", you can see diary pages that mention them. You might also be interested to see the other diary pages from around the time of liberation.

If you can add any photos / information about your family's time in Hong Kong and Stanley, they will be gratefully received.
