Pile Houses, Tai O Creek, Lantau Island, January 1937.
Matshed houses with rounded roofs, standing on concrete stilts in the creek of Tai O. They were photographed in January 1937 by Walter Scholfield, government officer and archaeologist. According to Walter the inhabitants of these dwellings were Tanka boat people, who were there before the lease of the New Territories in 1898.
