Hi There,

I think I have seen this before, but the shop signs were different.  Could be the junction where Queen's Road Central, Wellenging Street and Bonham Strand meet.

T

It is not Queen's Road West near Possession Point - the direction of the bend is incorrect.  Neither is it Hollywood Road.

I think T is correct.  The picture was taken at a point just west of the junction of Queen's Road Central, Bonham Strand and Wellington street.

BTW: There is no such thing as "Hollywood Road at Possession Point".  Hollywood Road intercept Possession Street one street above, and south, of Queen's Road Central/West.  Possession Street is the point where Queen's Road Central and West meet.

Thanks, David,

for the correction.

When older generation Chinese living in the vacinity refer to 水坑口(Possession Point), they usually mean only the junction of Queen's Road Central/West, Possession Street and Bonham Strand (East) rather than the whole area as depicted in the map.  They don't consider Hollywood Road part of 水坑口.

In 1950/60's my father has a branch shop at Bonham Strand and Queen's Road Central/West. I went there often as a kid and knew the area very well.

Regards,

Jacob

I just wanted to confirm that this is indeed QRW. Please look at the 1978 screencap (from Revenge of the Pink Panther) below where I have highlighted some shop signage that matches Ewart's in the original (for non-Chinese readers you can compare the two larger characters on the column, centre image, in the 1950's B&W image).
