Pavement butchers

These men were sorting out pigs' entrails.  It was the same spot as shown where my friend Tony was handing out sweets in one of my 1957/8 Aberdeen photographs probably on what is now Aberdeen Island Road near Hu Nan street.  It was probably the old Wet Market.

Hi Andrew,

Is this photo in the Aberdeen series?  If so, it was likely in the neighbourhood of Loi Kee shown in one of the other photos.  The workers are likely working on the pigs before they are being roasted.  Can't make out the exact location from the limited information though.

Hi T

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I am pretty certain that this was taken in an area of Aberdeen that we visited in 1958.  I've been giving much thought to the location of this and several of the Aberdeen photogrpahs in my 1958 folder.  After all these years it's difficult to be certain but I am fairly sure that this photograph was taken on the Aberdeen Main Road roughly between Wu Nan Street and Wu Pak Street.  That's where I took the photograph of my pal Tony handing out sweets in 1958.  I have amended the description for that photrograph and also one that must have been taken on what is now Wu Nan Street in 1958.  I suspect the quay that used to be there must have been the one from which we hired the sampans to take us to the Tai Pak restaurant.

Best wishes Andrew
