My grandmother on Lyttelton Road, Basilea Terrace.

In the gallery I saw a picture of the temple behind my grandmother. Please can someone show me the picture again.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much for the photos. I don't remember having seen the building in the background before. Can anyone else identify it?

Hi Milly

Thank you for posting this photo of your grandmother taken at Basilea Terrace, and also the other photo of the same location.  I was living there during my childhood.in the early 1950s. I remember that at the rear and to the right of our home there was another terrace which supported a large impressive-looking house. The structure partly visible in your photo was a like a low pagoda or gazebo standing next to the house.

Your two pictures are a great help to me in researching what Basilea looked like before World War II.  If you are interested in finding out more about the property and its history, please contact me at chanbask@yahoo.com.  In any case I'd much appreciate having your permission to use it for family history research.

Thanks very much,

Bruce

Thank you, Milly, for your kind sharing.

Also many thanks to Dr. Bruce Chan in the comment section, I actually read through your article "The Story of my Childhood Home: A Hong Kong Mid-levels Residence", and I learnt a lot more about where I live, that is exactly Greenland Garden, around where the photo was taken. I also hope to trace for some relics from the past in this area.

Many thanks!

Best personal regards,

Phillip
