Malcolm Manuk was born in India of Armenian parentage. He came to Hong Kong in 1899 and worked first for the Post Office and then for the Mercantile Bank. He joined the Dairy Farm Co. in 1905 as a clerk and rose to become Secretary. He was associated with the company for 27 years.

In 1923 he founded the first Theosophical Lodge in Hong Kong. In 1926 he was appointed the Theosophical Society's Presidential Agent for China. The Hong Kong Lodge was renamed in his honour soon after his death.

He was a sergeant in the HKVDC.
