As part of our duties with the Marksman and bomb unit we found that mainland china secret services were smuggling bombs into Hong Kong via Bamboo shoots and chinese mushroom tins of food. These tins were regular food tins but there was a bleed off in the canning factory where a supply line led to a different filling area where explosives, detonators, wires, instruction sheets and swiss made timing clocks were replacing the food inside. These altered cans had special contents codes so that agents in HK could identify and collect. If you look at the Marksman unit photos with me with the Sterling MG (see http://gwulo.com/node/17213) and read the comments below these were the food cans that were also found buried in oil drums when we did the raid on a chinese secret service base in NT.HK. We tried one out and this is the result of the can size bomb and that is 12" reinforced concrete.

The explosive used in these cans is military grade plastic explosive. The det.wave from this stuff travels outwards from the site between 4 - 7 MILES a second and is deadly. ie; if you are in its path and facing the wave with your mouth open just a small bit let alone open in awe but away from the initial blast site, the det/compression wave can enter your mouth trav down to your chest into your lungs and burst everything out of your chest. If the wave doesn't burst out it kills you anyway by totally destroying your lungs so at a post mortem when they x ray the chest the lungs look like dark/milky ovals and this is oftain refered to as butterfly wings. The same term is now used for miners and cancer lungs. The plastic explosive can be used as a lump and compressed into a container or a small/large mine to increase the blast or pieces can be cut off and used as small individual charges, shaped charges or moulded into any shape you want. The paper instruction sheet that came in the cans told you how to do all this simply. so really anyone can do it including kids.
