Nice pic of the entrance to the Grand Hotel at the corner of Humphrey's Avenue and Canarvon Rd. The rickshaw rank that Booth's describes should be on the opposite side of the road. Note the police box on the corner.

great shot of the grand ;) it was managed by mr renfrew in the 60s and the family lived up on the top (so jealous  i was too).  the hotel's entrance was 'v' shaped and sat on carnarvon and humphreys.  inside on the ground floor past the lobby was a bar called the target, as kids we would peep in there to see what was going on...not much from what i recall.  another great place for a cool-off and even in school uniforms it was never suggested we perhaps move on.... hong kong hotels in the 60s and 70s were da biz!!

If I recall correctly, the Grand Hotel was resumed by the Government sometime in the 1960s, and was used for a short time as accomodation for expatriate civil servants.
